PACK RANKS What do they mean? REX DOMINUS & REG DOMINA. is equivalent to the alpha male and alpha female. The alpha pair is the top of the food chain, all changes and decisions among the pack is finalized by the alphas. When joining or breeding, allowance must be confirmed by either the rex dominus or the reg domino. They lead the pack together and their word is law. HIERS. Are the pups of the alpha pair. COMMANDING BETA & BETESS. The betas are second in command. They help to dictate pack life, problem solve and see to it that the pack is in order. In the event that the alphas are unfit to lead, the betas will step up. The betas' opinions are strongly regarded by the alpha pair, they assist the leaders in decision making and upholding the law. HIERS. Pups to the beta pair. HEALER. The healer is the medicine wolf of the pack. They have extensive knowledge with herbs and healing. Healers take care of the sick and assist mothers in birthing. The healer is a vital member of the pack, they are well respected. HEALER'S APPRENTICE. The healer's apprentice begins training at six months, hand picked by the healer and alphas. They are the healer to-be. Under the leadership of the healer, the apprentice must learn the herbs and methods required to take care of their pack. When the former healer is unable to continue their duty, the healer's apprentice will step into said position and take on an apprentice of their own.
HEAD WARRIOR. The head warrior is held in high regard by the pack. They have extensive knowledge of combat and techniques. The head warrior's duty is to oversee the training of warrior apprentices, as well as arrange patrols and establish defences for the pack. WARRIORS. Warriors are the backbone of the pack, they are vital to success and survival. It is the responsibly of the warriors to defend territory and abolish threats to Cougar Creek. They ward off enemies, establish borders, and protect the pack in every aspect of life. While all wolves within Cougar Creek are expected to some some battle training, the skills of the warriors are well-tuned, making them lethal predators in combat. HEAD HUNTER. The head hunter is held in much the same regards as the head warrior or head of intelligence. They have extensive knowledge of the land and hunting methods. The head hunter must arrange hunting parties to feed the pack, as well as oversee training of the younger wolves aspiring to be hunters. HUNTERS. Hunters are well versed in, you guessed it, hunting. Hunters are trained to be efficient both alone and in hunting parties. These wolves have exceptional abilities in working together, tracking, and killing their prey. HEAD OF INTELLIGENCE. The head of intelligence must be cunning and stealthy, this wolf must assign missions to the spies, gather information regarding the happenings of Yellowstone, as well as the other packs. It is the job of this wolf to oversee training, assign missions, and report possible threats to the betas and alphas. SPIES. Spies are an essential element to the pack. Like the warriors, they are another line of defence. Spies are cunning, quick-witted, and stealthy. They must be aware of the happenings of the world around them, it is their job to learn the details of their enemies and report threats or potential victories. APPRENTICES. Apprentices are wolves between the ages of six months and two years. They can train to become spies, warriors, or hunters. The field of their study will be depicted by their own desire, as well as the discretion of the alpha (of course it will always come down to the role-player's choice). When training is completed, apprentices must go through a series of tests to prove their skill before moving into their future rank. GUARDIANS. Guardians are the pup-sitters. They can be both male and female alike, however the rank is mostly dominated by nursing mothers. It is the job of the guardians to look after the pups, ensure that they do not get into trouble, and essentially ensure the safety of the pups. PUPS. Pups must be younger than six months. They are the youngster's of the pack. It is against Cougar Creek code to be without a guardian and any pups found alone or in trouble can face punishment as deemed by an alpha. ELDERS. Elders are those that are no longer able to perform their duties. They have done their time and served the pack well. They are held in high regard by the pack for their wisdom and years of sacrifice. OMEGAS. Omegas are at the bottom of the food chain. These are traitors or wolves that have done wrong by the pack. They eat last and have little respect from the other ranks. An omega can either spend the remainder of their life in this rank (depending on severity of punishment), or must remain here until their loyalty and trustworthiness has been proven.
