It was luck, more than anything, that brought the colossal rex to the edge of the massive, sprawling canyons. While Decimus had certainly heard of the packs before, he'd never actually been near them, and it had seemed as if no one could give the brute clear instructions on how to find the Grand Canyon territory. Perhaps it was due to his size; it seemed as if he frightened nearly every she-wolf he happened upon, and rather offended the brutes. Or perhaps it was the energy that seemed to radiate from him, creeping under his pelt as if ready to explode at any moment. Either way, Decimus had decided to search on his own, and it seemed as if he had been successful. Gazing around him, Decimus inhaled deeply; the strong scent of another wolf assaulted his nostrils, clearly female. He was in the right place.
He knew that the Grand Canyon alpha was indeed a she-wolf, unlike Cougar Creek. A brute ruled there, and he was rumored to be on the harsher side of the spectrum, so Decimus had long ago decided against making Cougar Creek his home. He had far too many negative experiences with overly dominant brutes, and he certainly wasn't looking for a fight. Perhaps if the alpha here decided to accept him, she would allow him to be a warrior - that was if, of course, she understood that he was primarily better at defending. Decimus could undoubtedly take the offense if it was required of him, and his considerable strength would make him a force to be reckoned with. But it was also his bulk that made him so very good at defending, along with his preferred method of fighting. Decimus had learned to observe his deponent, to watch the way they moved, and to exploit the weaknesses that he found. I can do this, he thought grimly, his silver-gray fur seeming to glow in the sunlight's rays. I can succeed.
It was a weak attempt at steeling himself; snorting at his own ridiculousness, Decimus finally threw his head back, a howl ripping from his throat. It was a deep, masculine sound, trickling slowly from his maw, long and searching until the last moment when he closed his jaws and lowered his ivory-dipped muzzle. Silver-gray eyes, so similar to his pelt, searched the area for any hint of movement. She would come soon, he assumed, and then he would be able to gaze upon the Grand Canyon alpha and make his case. He could only hope that she was willing to listen. created by Lilith of Adoxography

The young, golden furred wolf, constantly love wandering around the canyon. There were so many twists and turns that even she, as the Alpha of the land had yet to puncture from the depths of the unknowing. Today, she was exploring those kinds of places. It was when she was deep into one of it's dark and damp tunnels that a loud, masculine howl found her ears and set her honey hued eyes toward the outside world. The wolf was close, obviously male, and summoning her. She had yet to grow used to being summoned, but not too long ago she had met a young brute on the other side of the lands, simply admiring her lands beauty without setting a paw on it. However, her land seemed to draw the soft-hearted, and she could only hope that this male was stronger than the others she had come across. Her howl, so far, had not let down her hopes, in fact, she felt them rising.
Turning her back towards the deeper tunnel, she pushed her curiosity behind her - she could explore further another day, perhaps, with the newest member of her pack. Flicking her ears, she wove between the darkness, using her tiny whiskers, ear tips, and tail to find her way. Even though wolves were good at seeing in the dark for the most part, this cave gave her no source. It was completely closed off from the outside world except for the entrance she had come in from. Though, it was possible that it had other openings further down. She just had to find them. Once she had seen the light of day, she picked up her pace, only pausing at the end of the cliff. From the top of the canyon - well almost, about a ledge down - she could see the brute, though he was still far enough a way. Flinging her golden head to the stars, she let out a loud, howl. Her voice much more feminine and as sweet as the honey that lit up her eyes.
With that, she began forward, jumping from ledge to ledge, her thick paw-pads and amazing agility, it was easy for her to stick a landing without so much as four paws hitting the ground before flying to her next ledge. In a matter of quick, swift movements, she landed flatly on the canyon floor. Her fur was rather ruffled, but beside that, she was as fancy as any lady, a beautiful Alpha. In the light of the canyon, her golden tints bled out over the white, and for such a journey down the steep ledges, she had no so much of a pant. Her bright eyes landed on the gray wolf, her ears and tail arched, though her expression was welcoming, warm, and friendly. Though, they also had a bit of personality aside from that - her pride as well as caution. For all she knew, he was summoning her for a duel over the land she called hers. When she was about a hundred feet from the large brute, she lowered her haunches, raising her head high, a small smirk twitching at her lips.
He was a large wolf, rather intimidating on her small size. Yet, the canyon alpha had seen enough to make even the largest brute not a threat. She approached him with her best confidence and not even a bat of her eyes, even though she was silently sizing him up in case he fought her. She was silent for a moment ,and then with a welcoming smile, she spoke up, "You rang?" @decimus

Decimus was patient as he waited, long after his call had stopped echoing through the canyons. He stood with relaxed posture, his head held high, his eyes searching. The sun was high above him, warming his back even as the chilly spring air caressing his legs where the thick fur was shorter. Autumn was approaching; he could feel it in the air, could taste it on the wind. They would have a few blessed months of gorgeous leaves and crisp weather before winter dug her icy talons into the earth, stripping the trees bare and blanketing the world in white. Decimus personally was not a fan of winter; it was more difficult to hunt, the majority of the water sources froze over, and the snow was so bothersome. No, he'd much rather experience summer. The sudden thud of paws against rock had him turning, just in time to see a blur of a shape leaping from ledge to ledge towards him. A flash of honey-splashed ivory landed before him, and Decimus suddenly found himself face-to-face with the alpha of Grand Canyon. He recognized her by her scent; it had been the same that he'd smelled on his way into her territory. As she stood gazing at him with lovely eyes like liquid gold, Decimus took a moment to let his gaze rake over her body, not bothering to hide the motion. She was stunning, truly, radiating pride and a fierce strength. Even as he gazed down at her and she up at him, she did not seem intimidated by his size. Secretly he was a little impressed, although he didn't let it show. "You rang?" She asked, her voice clear and musical. Smiling jaggedly, Decimus dipped his head both in acknowledgement of her statement and recognition of her position. "Well I called for the alpha, but it seems as if I received an angel," he said slyly, his deep voice tinged with amusement and a hint of flirtatiousness. Even in his present situation, Decimus couldn't help himself, and who could blame him? She was a sight to behold. A rumbling began deep within his chest which materialized into light laughter, his silvery eyes glimmering with mischief as he made to bow. "I am Decimus. I've come here because I wish to join your ranks, my lady. Cougar Creek wouldn't suite my taste; I'd rather serve you." He straightened then, tilting his head in consideration as he looked at her. She was certainly not one to be underestimated, he could see that straightaway. Smaller though she was, there was something about her that promised fierceness. More than anything, it made Decimus wish to serve her more."My size causes me to excel as a warrior, particularly defensive maneuvering; holding the enemy off while dealing subtle but lethal blows," he explained, all practical now. He needed to ensure that he did a good job of explaining his strengths. "If you would have me, I would be glad to honor your pack, and to defend in with my life, if need be."He was silent then, not wanting to seem as if he were bragging; she would either take him, or she would not. Either way, Decimus couldn't stop the familiar coy smirk from pulling at his maw. created by Lilith of Adoxography
