The young, golden furred wolf, constantly love wandering around the canyon. There were so many twists and turns that even she, as the Alpha of the land had yet to puncture from the depths of the unknowing. Today, she was exploring those kinds of places. It was when she was deep into one of it's dark and damp tunnels that a loud, masculine howl found her ears and set her honey hued eyes toward the outside world. The wolf was close, obviously male, and summoning her. She had yet to grow used to being summoned, but not too long ago she had met a young brute on the other side of the lands, simply admiring her lands beauty without setting a paw on it. However, her land seemed to draw the soft-hearted, and she could only hope that this male was stronger than the others she had come across. Her howl, so far, had not let down her hopes, in fact, she felt them rising.
Turning her back towards the deeper tunnel, she pushed her curiosity behind her - she could explore further another day, perhaps, with the newest member of her pack. Flicking her ears, she wove between the darkness, using her tiny whiskers, ear tips, and tail to find her way. Even though wolves were good at seeing in the dark for the most part, this cave gave her no source. It was completely closed off from the outside world except for the entrance she had come in from. Though, it was possible that it had other openings further down. She just had to find them. Once she had seen the light of day, she picked up her pace, only pausing at the end of the cliff. From the top of the canyon - well almost, about a ledge down - she could see the brute, though he was still far enough a way. Flinging her golden head to the stars, she let out a loud, howl. Her voice much more feminine and as sweet as the honey that lit up her eyes.
With that, she began forward, jumping from ledge to ledge, her thick paw-pads and amazing agility, it was easy for her to stick a landing without so much as four paws hitting the ground before flying to her next ledge. In a matter of quick, swift movements, she landed flatly on the canyon floor. Her fur was rather ruffled, but beside that, she was as fancy as any lady, a beautiful Alpha. In the light of the canyon, her golden tints bled out over the white, and for such a journey down the steep ledges, she had no so much of a pant. Her bright eyes landed on the gray wolf, her ears and tail arched, though her expression was welcoming, warm, and friendly. Though, they also had a bit of personality aside from that - her pride as well as caution. For all she knew, he was summoning her for a duel over the land she called hers. When she was about a hundred feet from the large brute, she lowered her haunches, raising her head high, a small smirk twitching at her lips.
He was a large wolf, rather intimidating on her small size. Yet, the canyon alpha had seen enough to make even the largest brute not a threat. She approached him with her best confidence and not even a bat of her eyes, even though she was silently sizing him up in case he fought her. She was silent for a moment ,and then with a welcoming smile, she spoke up, "You rang?" @decimus

The day was definitely one of the most beautiful ones she had seen in a while. They were just exiting the winter into the spring and already, life was flowing, babies were running, just about everywhere. In fact, the alpha had just managed to snag herself a decent sized calf from the bison herd about 50 feet from where she now lay, hidden among the grassland plateau. As she chowed into the meal, she gazed at the herd. They were steadily moving along. Well, all except the mother of the calf Esperanza had killed - she was still eyeing the wolf with large, sad eyes. The wolf almost felt pity for the mother bison, but she had to live, which meant others would need to die. Unlike the bison, she could not live off the green of the land, she needed meat, and sometimes that involved taking from the living, even if they'd done nothing to deserve it. It was just a way of life.
Maybe next year the cow would be more lucky and have bear a calf that would survive. But, in the end, the more fortunate side, the bison were doing well this year, the herd was larger than ever. It only proved to the alpha that she had made an excellent decision in claiming the land she had. However, there was a new scent on the other side of the plateau. It wasn't bison, though it was much further away, probably on the very edge of the Madison Range. At the moment, she was too caught up on her meal to really pay attention. The only other predators that seemed to show up - or more so scavengers - were the coyotes and the vultures. The bears and other wolves if they came by tended to stay toward the ridge or the creek.
However, when the scent blasted her nose and she grew aware that it was another wolf, she was on her paws, ditching her kill for the scavengers, to question them before they actually passed over her border. Her swift trot picked up into a steady lope, bringing her closer to the intruder much faster. Of course, she kept her cool, slowing back into the trot when she caught sight of the wolf himself. She could smell his masculine scent, and he was a little on the scraggly side, leading her to believe he was a loner. Either way, she shook out her coat, allowing the whites to brighten and the golden flecks to shine against the tan plateau. She was impressive looking, and she knew it. She approached cautiously, but composed. Her ears were perked, tail arched, her whole body taking up her dominant role as leader.
Still, she did nothing to offend, frighten, or dominate the male wolf. Instead, she walked up beside him, casting her gaze out over the buffalo plateau and kept her eyes off of him. He already seemed agitated or spooked by something, so she wasn't going to make it any worse. She was patient, and for a while she stood there in silence, admiring the view as the wolf beside her did. Finally, though, she spoke up.
"It's rather beautiful from this view, isn't it?" She asked, her voice as smooth as silk, turning her honey colored eyes to look at the brute beside her. ivan.

The female reacted a little more hysterical to the taunt than the alpha had expected. Her face lit up with amusement and she gave her tail tip a light swing. She couldn't blame the wolf for such enthusiasm. It also showed what she, as an alpha, was always questioning - how strong a wolf was without asking directly. This she wolf had told her rather proudly, and it had earned her a heed of respect from Esperanza. Her amusement still lit her eyes, but it had faded down to a pleased smirk, not to be misplaced with flirtation, but simply admiration. "A lady who can protect herself as an individual." She commented with a approving nod of her muzzle - though it was probably more of a compliment toward a wolf who wasn't a pack mate. "We need more of those in this land." She wasn't this wolf's superior, just a wolf she had bumped into, therefore there was no need to try and dominate her, which Esperanza was not doing it all. She was talking to the wolf - now named Iskierka as a friend, not a subordinate, which was rather odd for her, but held some comfort as well.
The wolf seemed to pause and question herself on how far she had wandered toward the canyon, but she was still plenty out in free land. Even if she had wandered into her territory by accident - Esperanza was not the kind of leader as her rival over in the deer land, Dexerous. Who would roll a wolf in the dirt and threaten to slit their stomachs for trespassing, whereas the leader of the canyon simply wanted piece in numbers. Rather than attacking she would give a warning and send them on their way, a small threat if they returned, but no blood shed. Most would call her weak for it, she called it giving one a second chance. Though, if the second was broken, you would not be getting so lucky the next time. She had the power of an alpha for a reason, and that reason wasn't getting walked all over by rogues. Flicking her ears, she gave a light smirk. "No worries, I'm not going to rip your throat out for sniffing a scent marker." She offered, with a light laugh that told the other wolf that she was intending to make a friendly joke rather than a hidden threat.
Iskierka now spoke of Esperanza's pack, appearing curious of what it was like and who was involved. "Actually, we are fresh out of the lands. You are the first wolf I've seen in the open lands so far, no doubt more will follow." She spoke, her tone slightly more serious as though she were asking herself if it was true, but her eyes would show nothing of her thoughts, only her friendly comment to the other she wolf. Giving her back a small stretch, she allowed herself to slide back into her laying position, though her body was facing away from the water, her attention still on the guest. Iskierka still seemed tense and the alpha couldn't blame her. Some wolves around were just nasty things, trying to walk all over the she wolves as if they were up for claim. She was pleased that she had found a she wolf who knew how to stand up for herself. It was something that her pack needed more of. Confidence and strength. "Not much of a pack wolf, huh?" She spoke softly, making sure she didn't hit a sensitive spot on the other wolf. "I used to be like that, then eventually I wanted to take over what I used to be - a leader. It's in our nature to be together, or at least so I've witnessed. Maybe some wolves are different." The golden kissed wolf offered, honey eyes shining over to the other wolf before she turned and looked out onto the horizon to the place she now called home. Iskierka OOC: No worries! We all have off days, get some rest. (:

Her eyes had been locked on the fish and nothing but the fish. She had been flicking her ears to keep some part of her alert, but then again, she wasn't too worried. If anyone was going to ambush her, they would need to do a lot better than taking her by the lake when she was her most peaceful of minds. What would be the fun in that anyway, killing another wolf in fun blood? She was rather a peace maker, but she understood the mind of a killer. It was to see the horror in the eyes of the victim, to feel that power. However, killing a wolf in cold blood? There was no power to be felt, killing the innocent. Though, one could never be sure unless they were such a wolf, and she in fact, was not. Her head did snap up though when the wind blew another scent into her nose. Curiously, she raised her head, turning it and casting honey eyes onto a moving shape in the distance.
It took a while before the shape turned from a dark, wolf shaped shadow to an actual wolf. It was a female, the scent told her that, and by the way she was approaching she didn't know who the golden wolf was or just didn't care since they were in neutral lands. Still, she was not the kind of Alpha to care what her reputation was. The only thing in the world she had to care about was herself and the well-being of her pack. One of which still needed to gain members. As the wolf approached, the white wolf pushed herself onto her haunches, taking up an attentive stance as well as a sitting position. At least she still had the courtesy to be polite, even with the authority she held. Then again, she had no authority in a land such as this. ”I hope I haven’t wandered into some strangers territory on accident,” She spoke up and the other she wolf tilted her head to the side as if to question if she was just ignorant or her nose was broken, without saying a word.
Surely, if one had been wandering aimlessly they were checking for scent markers? Unless they had a broken nose, then maybe they wouldn't be. However, she didn't question the remark and simply waited for her to say something else that was a tad easier to respond to. And as if on cue, the next question was a simple one, a basic one, something that was most likely frequently asked to other wolves. Still, she wouldn't exactly know, would she? She hadn't seen another wolf in years. Flicking her ears, she cast her mind to be silent and instead gave the stranger a smile. Ignoring the tone of voice, she spoke up. "Exploring." The wolf murmured simply, keeping her head tilted to the side for a few moments longer before straightening it out. "How about you? Such a pretty thing should be off in secure numbers, don't need some male herding you around like a pet." She snorted back, though her tone remained friendly. She was not one to get into arguments or raise her voice, then again, she had a few good come backs when she really needed to.
Deciding it was better to get acquainted rather than putter on such silly things she gave her head a small bow, silently laughing at the irony of the whole situation. The queen bowing down to all she could suspect was a loner. "I am Esperanza, leader of the Grand Canyon pack just beyond the horizon over there." She told the other wolf, then fell into a polite silence as she waited for her to do the same or say something else. Iskierka

The wolf hadn't been around in these lands for that long. She had grown used to what she considered her territory, but where she stood now, at the edge of beautiful and free-flowing lake, she was in foreign land. Either way, it was beautiful. Wiggling her nose, she allowed her paws to pick her up into a smooth, trot-like gate. The plateau ground was smooth and soft under her paws, only hitting a few rocks every once in a while. Overall, this was just the perfect land for her pack to grow. But, there was no need to get hasty. She had plenty of land. The giant plateau not too far from where she stood now that was full of bison, and then a giant canyon. It's deep crevices and seclusion made it the perfect den site. Things couldn't be more perfect for the young she wolf. Allowing her paws to keep carrying her around, she only paused to lower her golden kissed face and enjoy a drink from the river. She watched her own reflection become rippled as the series of fish at whom had been in the shallows scattered away from her dangerous jaws. However, that was fine with her, she had food back at camp, she just wanted to drink and then continue her walk around - getting to know the new land.
She had to admit though, it had been quiet. Maybe the lack of wolves in the area was more dangerous than she had thought? She had instantly figured that because there weren't any other wolves, that she would have an easy time to find pack mates. But, then she really began to ponder on the fact of if there weren't any wolves, how was she going to find them? She definitely did not want to travel all the way North just to pick up some wolves, and the East was run by a much larger pack. Maybe she would simply just get lucky and be able to catch the few wolves that passed by. Surely as they grow, word would spread? The thought process began to get on her nerves and she lowered her haunches into a sitting position, her honey colored eyes staring at her reflection in the bright blue waters. She could do this. She knew she could. She had been a leader before as well as a healer. No wolf was better suited for an Alpha then she was! The she wolf decided it best to relax for a while, pushing her front legs forward and allowing the tips of her claws to penetrate the water. Now laying down, she watched as her claws rippled the water and the fish continued to come forward just to scatter. Yes, this was how she was going to spend her day.
Maybe tomorrow she would catch up with the travels she had planned out. Iskierka

All pack wolves must follow the regulations given below or risk pack execution or exile.
✗No wolves should fight in pack unless it is a fight judged by the Alpha(s) to move up in the ranks. ✗Your pack is your family. In no way should you ever betray their trust or stretch your loyalties to another pack. ✗Becoming mates with a wolf outside the pack will be documented as betrayal and the wolf will be exiled from the pack and killed if they return on the land. ✗Other wolves in the pack (besides Omega's) can mate and have pups as long as they talk to the Alpha(s) first. ✗Pups/adolescents should never be left to die if they are found within pack territory. They should be brought to the Alpha and their fate discussed. ✗Only superior wolves can address newcomers. However, the Alpha may send scouts out to bring the loner to the camp to meet them. ✗Some new comers may be asked to prove their skills by competing against a pack wolf that is ranked in that skill. ✗When the hunters return with food, the pack will eat in order of the hierarchy. Wolves that eat before the rank above them will be punished accordingly. ✗All wolves must respect those higher than them and submit. Warriors -> Hunters -> Scouts, go in that order. Leads for any of these ranks are considered equals and are above the main three ranks.
** If you have any questions on the rules, feel free to PM either Fawn's account or Esperanza's.

Alphas These are the two canines in charge of the pack. They make the orders and all others must submit and listen to them. There is always one male and one female, usually mates, but not required.
Betas: The Betas are the second in command. They are involved in secret conversations with the Alpha's and are in charge when they are away. They can make some orders, but this is usually done by the Alphas. There is always one male and one female, usually mates, but not required.
Deltas: The Deltas are those training to be Beta and then Alpha. They are often pups of the Alpha pair or a very respected female wolf in the pack. These canines usually go off with the Alphas and Betas to learn their ways and how they are to act in certain situations. Always one female and one male, can be mates, but not required.
Healer: This canine is very well educated on herbs and how to cure sickness and heal injuries. They are well known and bonded within the pack, along with highly respected. Can be either male or female.
Healers Apprentice: A canine who shows potential in being the next healer. They shadow the current healer and learn everything they can. They will take over when the current healer retires or dies. Can be either male or female.
Warriors: The well built canines who are strong and very good with fighting techniques. They protect the pack. Both females and males.
Hunters: These canines are usual smaller than the warriors, but more agile and fast. They are educated in hunting techniques and are able to lead a whole patrol in a hunt. They provide meals for the pack. Both females and males.
Scouts: These canines are much similar to hunters, but are much faster and have greater endurance strengths. They check the borders constantly and either bring canines that want to join back to the Alpha or break off into groups to fetch the warriors to chase off invading canines/rival packs. Both females and males.
Spies: These canines are to keep an eye on the other packs plans. This means sneaking around inside their territory and getting a peek at where the main camp is, plans for the pack, ect. If there are no other packs to watch, the spies can either take on convoy, hunter, or warrior duties until they are needed. Both females and males.
Guardian: The Guardian is basically a pup watcher and trainer. Once pups do not need to nurse anymore, the Guardian takes them into their care so the mother can get back to her duties. As they grow, the Guardian will teach them basic hunting and fighting techniques. If their are no pups in the pack, the Guardian will take on the rank of convoy, hunter, or warrior. Usually female, but can be a male.
Apprentices: Apprentices are canines who are under the age of 2, that will team up with a hunter, convoy, spy, or warrior to learn how the rank works before they turn three. Once they turn three, they will be given the full rank of whatever they have been training for. Both males and females.
Pups: Canines under the age of one year. Both males and females.
Omega: These canines are the weakest members of the pack. They are usually kicked around by the other canines and used as a way to relive stress. This makes these wolves very playful and friendly, even though they are the lowest of the low. Both males and females

ESPERANZA THE BASICS;; Full Name: Esperanza
Gender: She Wolf
Age: 3 years
Breed: Arctic x Timber Wolf
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Pack: Grand Canyon, Leader
Alias: Fawn
DIGGING A LITTLE DEEPER;; Appearance: photo above.
Personality: Sweet and sassy, this she wolf is bound to get along with anyone and everyone. She has a nature to want to help everyone and with that sense has been studying herbs and healing methods her whole life. Her purpose in the world is to help everyone, rather than causing harm. She has a strong tug toward peace over violence and in most situations would try to break up a fight, and when it's turned on her, run. Her small size ruins her ability to be a skilled fighting, but being on her own for so long has given her a strong ability to hunt rather well. In this, her small size is an advantage. Esperanza is quick and stealthy, able to creep up on someone, or run at quick speeds for limited amount of times. She is also rather agile and enjoys to just test her limits by running the forests edge. Overall, she is simply a sweet wolf that looks out for the others around her and doesn't have a mean bone in her body unless you hurt the ones she holds dear to her heart. However, she does tend to lack forgiveness. She is a trusting soul, but once that trust is broken, it could be gone forever.
History: When Esperanza was young, she grew up in a pack like no other. Here, wolves weren't equal, but they were pretty close to it. Ranks weren't as broken up as they were now. The leader was also the healer. Putting a lot of stress on that one wolf. There were the basic scouts, hunters, warriors, and caretakers, but all were equal. The only wolf separated out was the leader/healer. All wolves in the pack were required to know how to heal and fight in case it were necessary. Esperanza was always so soft hearted, wanting to help everyone in any way she could. But to the Packmaster {as he/she was called} found it as a weakness, forcing her to be attacked by her packmates to show her what happens to weaklings. As she grew up, she was taught she was a coward, not strong enough, not fast enough. Nothing but a weakling. But even though the words stung worse than the bites, Esperanza pushed forward. She became the best hunter in the pack and amazed everyone. As she grew, she became more of a leader than the Packmaster himself, and he grew scared. Esperanza began to hand out the patrols and hunts, taking the rank right from his shoulders. For a while he didn't care. Until Esperanza fell in love with a warrior of the pack. The two became very close, and eventually their romance was obvious. It was then that the Packmaster decided he did want his rank, and the way to take it back would be to hurt the thing she loved most; The warrior. He held a public execution for the poor wolf. One by one the other warriors attacked, leaving him bloody and battered until his last breath was taken. Poor Esperanza was heart broken. She fled the pack that night, knowing that if she didn't the same fate would have come to her. She ran until she found safety by a wonderful body of water, and there she simply waited. Waited for life to get better and a drastic change to take place. That drastic change took place when she came to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.. She made the decision that she wanted to stay in that place forever, even though there weren't any other wolves around. Esperanza took the time to look over the land, finding that there was a large boundary before any other wolves were even seen. The bison roamed freely in large herds and the river just kept running. It was the perfect place for a pack. She had led one before? She could do it again, but this time, as the leader, as the starter! It could be a legend. And so, the Grand Canyon pack was born. She knew from the start that they would be strong enough to hunt the bison and they would live in the land for a long, long time.
THE FINAL TOUCH;; Role-play Experience: Intermediate-Advanced
